Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

All voices need to be heard

This is the space that is usually reserved for explanations as to how and why we are already excellent in all things ED&I, however we want to be a little more honest.

We are a work in progress and are very happy to be. We want to go on the journey with our clients and partners. There are loads of reasons why we should, number one being, it is simply the right thing to do. However, if you need more convincing…

Why?

  • Inclusive teams improve team performance by up to 30% in high-diversity environments. (Gartner)
  • When employees feel more connected at work, they tend to work harder and smarter, producing higher quality work.
  • If you don’t change how you hire, you’ll always get the same type of people.
  • The most diverse enterprises — in terms of migration, industry, career path, gender, education and age are also the most innovative, as measured by their revenue mix. (Harvard Business Review)
  • Diverse teams make better, more considered decisions.
  • The c-suite is responsible for making major business decisions; those that actively seek minority voices gain new perspectives and inspire employees to make a difference.
  • Companies with significantly more racial and ethnic diversity are 35% more likely to outperform competitors. (McKinsey)

Action over lip service

  • We’re campaigning for ED&I improvement across our connections and networks.
  • We’re building alliances with organisations that work with and represent diverse groups. We’re learning from them.
  • We’re changing the employee profile in our own business. To make the right decisions we need everyone in the room. Our doors are open.
  • We encourage a culture in which everyone can share ideas and influence decisions made by the business. Yes, everyone. And yes, you can quote us on that.
  • We’ve developed an internship with Migrant Leaders to ensure we’re bringing the best, brightest, before now (wrongly, ignorantly, shamefully - on all of our parts) unrecognised and undervalued talent into the business. Talent that will shape our future.
  • A number of our team are mentors on the Migrant Leaders programme and participate in educational conferences (on a pro-bono basis) to help young talent succeed in gaining entry to university and career moves.
  • We are moving through the Clear Company ‘Clear Assured programme’
  • We have active partnerships with Real Estate Balance; Women In Mining and International Women in Mining, with more to come!
  • We’re ready (and expecting) to be challenged on all that we do. We’re working to do better. And we will.

We’re not fighting the old, we’re building the new
