At Granger Reis, we understand the profound impact the right leader can have in shaping an organisation’s future.
That’s why we are proud to once again partner with Engineers Without Borders UK (EWB UK), on a pro bono basis, in the search for its next chair of the board – a crucial role at a time of exciting strategic growth.
EWB UK is a movement that brings together the engineering community to address global challenges. Through education, advocacy, and collaboration, the organisation ensures that engineering serves people and the planet, rather than harming them.
By working with industry and academia, EWB-UK is reshaping how engineers think, learn, and work – placing sustainability and social impact at the heart of engineering solutions.
This appointment follows the tenure of Mathew Riley, a respected industry leader, who has guided EWB-UK through a period of transformation and influence. With Mat relocating to the US, he will be stepping down from the role, leaving a legacy of impact and progress.
Reflecting on his time with EWB UK, Mat said:
“Engineers Without Borders UK is an exceptional, unique organisation which I am proud to have been a part of for the past 18 months. The impact is evident in the thousands of engineers it has mobilised and communities it has partnered with. By integrating engineering with a purpose-driven approach, it is shaping a future where technology serves both people and the planet.”
Under the leadership of CEO John Kraus, EWB-UK continues to drive sustainability and engineering excellence on a global scale, ensuring that engineering plays a vital role in tackling some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
John commented on Mat’s contribution: “Mat has made a significant difference to EWB-UK, bringing valuable leadership and insight. The next chair will step into an organisation with momentum – focused on continuing to shape a better future for all.”
At Granger Reis, we are committed to influential change, and this search represents a unique opportunity to play a transformative role in shaping a more sustainable future—where infrastructure, innovation, and purpose align.
Craig Davidge, co-head of our real assets practice, reinforced our commitment to this vital leadership search:
“We are delighted to be partnering with EWB on this important brief as part of our Influential change agenda. It represents a real opportunity to make a real difference to a more sustainable future with infrastructure at its core.”
