Find Skanska Building Group’s first Chief Strategy Officer

When considering its long-term future and given the pace of industry change, Skanska USA Building needed to harness an entrepreneurial mindset, to shift from a defensive approach to a proactive strategy. It was vital to have the ability to connect the unconnected and form strategic relationships with diverse customers and vendors. To achieve this, Skanska USA Building recognized the necessity to command influence both internally and externally, and created the role of Chief Strategy Officer, bringing together Strategy, Innovation, Business Development and Marketing functions under one umbrella.

Our remit was to identify an individual with business acumen and an ability to bridge the gaps between data analysis and strategic foresight while demonstrating advanced communication and team building skills.

As part of a competitive process, Granger Reis assessed and benchmarked seven internal candidates alongside four external candidates. This resulted in the successful appointment of Anita Woolley Nelson, who has proven abilities to identify, recommend, develop, and help implement strategies that will ensure the health, future viability, and sustainability of the business. Anita's ultimate responsibilities are to execute superior competitor and market intelligence, harnessing data analytics to drive the company’s strategic goals and lead the development and execution of the business unit’s business plan.
