The Brief:
Find a leader to replace long-standing CEO of family-run manufacturer
Techrete is the leading company in the design, manufacture, and installation of architectural precast cladding, serving the UK and Irish construction markets.
They were looking to transfer their leadership from a second-generation family CEO and long-term Chairman and tasked Granger Reis to identify a new CEO who could drive the business forward to fulfil its potential and allow the incumbent CEO to eventually step away.
The Approach:
In-depth search to find specialist knowledge and right cultural fit
We researched both the domestic Irish and wider UK market specifically in the areas of specialist construction companies with an exposure to manufacturing or more traditional manufacturing environments.
Due to the nature of the Techcrete business, it was key that the appointed leader had familiarity and exposure to off-site construction methodology in some form.

After an extensive search process and rigorous interview schedule, Alastair Smyth was appointed into the role in March 2023. Alastair brings an impressive engineering and major project delivery background and is familiar with the challenges faced by a specialist business operating in a challenging commercial environment.
Techcrete has a significant proportion of its business and workforce embedded in manufacturing facilities, and Alastair has experience of overseeing off-site manufactured concrete products having run a similar organisation.
